About your house - Choosing for rent - Check before Shifting Are you a frequent hopper of rented house ? Here are certain vital aspects and points to choose from before you decide to shift to a new house for rent. I being a goverment employee and thus subject to frequent transfers to different towns, I had a hectic time to choose a good house for rent.In Indian conditions, relating to pollution, environment, neighbourhood, security, utilities, etc., you have to check up from various angles to focus on a comfortable area and avoid another shifting within a short period:Here are the tips to check: 1. Occupational restrictions: Is the house owner restricting the number of persons occupying the rented house/portions or water usage or power/energy usage? If so: How many persons ? How much Water or power ? 2. Escalating Rent : Is there any escalation clause in the rental payable every month; will there be a hike in rent every year ?
3. How much refundable advance is demanded ? It has to be a normal multipe of six times of rent. Is the owner capable of returning the advance any time you wish to vacate the house as agreed to at the time of paying advance.
4. Onida ad in top-down type, "Neighbours pride; Owners envy" ? : How would be your new neighbours, Are they soft and vegetarians ? What is their status in the area ? Are they respected or feared ? Who are their regular visitors ? Any rowdy elements always mugging around there ?
